Vance Nolan has fallen on hard times. Dishonoured, jailed for tech-theft and disowned by his family, he now works as a junker in a machine graveyard.
Life couldn’t get any worse. Until it does.
Pursued for reasons he does not understand, Vance has only one option to remove himself from the Grid—the worldwide network that encompasses all aspects of modern living—in an attempt to thwart those who want him dead.
As the Grid closes in around him, Vance will make a discovery about his past that will not only change everything he thought he knew about himself, but about the world around him as well.

Grid Wraith (The Grid, Book 1) eBook Mark R. Healy Reviews
I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy of Mark Healy's newest book, Grid Wraith, and it was a paige-turner! I have read a bunch of Healy's books, most recently the Reach series, and Mark only improves his story-telling skills in Grid Wraith.
In the Wraith series, Healy creates a new, likable main character, Vance, and surrounds him with a well fleshed-out group of supporting folk who interact throughout the story in very believable ways. There are some twists and turns as Vance learns more about himself and why he is a target, and there is plenty of suspense as the story rushes to completion. Enough threads are left undone, however, to make me look forward to the next book in this series by a sci-fi author who is getting better and better. Mark is not Peter Hamilton, yet, but a solid 4 of 5 in my thinking!
I liked the pace of the novel and the topical nature of the plot devices.
I'll buy the next in the series.
Exciting page turner, this novel is tight, well written and clever. There are the come to be expected graphical errors of transposed or repeated words, but only a few. I like this author.
LOOK AT OUR NEAR FUTURE!! Good short ; rapid and interesting story!
Man, this guy can write. I was unsure of the main protagonist but I got caught up in Mark's writing and then the reason for why I couldn't, at first, relate to the protagonist was uncovered as the story progressed. I'm now eagerly waiting for the other books in the series. All I can recommend is that you get your hands on anything Mark has written (if you haven't already). Also, he had the grace to reply to me regarding some general questions I had about an aspect of writing, and his replies were extensive and extremely helpful.
Really good premise. Technology with power financially and politically. Believable characters and good dialogue and action sequences. Kept me on edge and I couldn't forget the story until I finished it. Really good writing!
The grid. Everyone's on it from birth. In a world controlled by powerful interests, even the small guy has to stay connected. Vance is off the grid but not far enough. Powerful interests want him dead, and he doesn't know who or why. He must completely disappear but with the ever present grid, how can he? Good job. Plenty of action. Believable characters. I'm not that interested in cyber punk, took a chance and enjoyed this story very much.
I don’t give 5 stars to a book unless it’s superb all around. This one makes it on all counts well-wrought story and characters, good writing that’s nearly error free (which shows an author who cares enough to get it right). He caps the story with a very compelling cover that got my attention in the first place. (Indie authors take note covers do matter—a lot!)
While this has some story elements we’ve seen before, Healy puts them together in a fresh way. Any sci-fi writer or reader knows how hard it is to pull that off. The author had my attention from the opening paragraphs with an interesting character and an interesting voice that made this a page turner for me. (I am a critical reader.)
As for the story itself, the author’s synopsis tells you all you need to know, so I won’t repeat it here.
I highly recommend this novel and am eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series, but in the meantime, Mark Healy has gained a new fan, and I will definitely check out his other works.
